".... ถ้าให้ทรงเลือกระหว่างรัฐบาลทหารกับพลังนักศึกษา พระองค์ แม้จะไม่ทรงนิยมเผด็จการ ก็จะทรงโปรดอย่างมาก [would much prefer] ที่จะเลือกทหาร. นักศึกษาอาจจะมีอุดมคติบ้าง แต่พวกเขาไม่มีประสบการณ์หรือความรับผิดชอบ และพวกเขาได้รับอิทธิพลอย่างแย่ๆจากภายนอก. ในทางกลับกัน ทหารมีสำนึกทางวินัยและความรับผิดชอบ ห่วงใยการทำให้ประเทศดีขึ้น และมีประสบการณ์ในการปกครอง ....."
"....If the choice lay between military government and student power, he, the king, though no lover of dictatorship, would much prefer the military. The student might have some ideals, but they had no experience or responsibility, and they were badly influenced from outside. The military on the other hand had a sense of discipline and responsibility, were concerned for the better of the country and had experience of government ....."
